House update – moving forward

We are moving forward slowly with the house.  Monday marks the day of our inspections and then we’ll see from there.  The short sale is moving along and I am happy and surprised but also trying not to get too excited–yet.  We have been here before and before it has always ended on a sour note.  It has been 5 years since we started looking for a home.  After multiple offers and multiple reasons that those deals fell through, I am hoping that this one is golden.  But who knows.  I live by Murphy’s Law. ;)

Honestly, even though there is so much on the horizon.  I feel like i’m a little stalled.  Going to the gym was my way of being able to be out of the house for a couple of hours every day.  Because I am a full time college student, full time business owner and full time stay-at-home mom, I find myself in the house most of the time.  The walls start to close in on me and I feel trapped.  I normally do not feel this way in the spring and summer so I know that it is the state of the season that leaves me feeling this way.  So I find that I really have to push myself right now to workout.  Going to the gym every day was super easy for me.  Being in the house and having to exercise, eh… not so much.  Weird eh?

I am reminding myself that this is temporary.  I have been keeping up with my exercising and have been really on track with the eating.  But even I admit to myself that going to the gym every day left me feeling like I had a full life.  Which is kind of ironic since I am a really busy person regardless of whether or not I go to the gym.  Know what I mean?

On the upside, I am really proud of myself for losing 10 pounds in one month!  All of my hard work and perseverance has paid off.  Leaving me more than sure that I will be able to reach my goal of being 100 pounds down by the end of this year!  :)

Alright question time.

How do you guys deal with the winter season?  Does the lack of sunshine and being more housebound have an effect on your overall attitude?  Or is it just me?  What do you think? ;)

  • I understand about the winter blues. This is my first real winter (being that I’m from AZ originally) and I think there is just something about the sunshine that makes you want to be outside and doing something! The gym is my saving grace right now during this icy weather!

Great job- a 10lbs loss in a month is no joke.

  • Zan:

I’m a workout at home girl with a wide and varied collection of DVDs to keep my interest. That being said, and I don’t live in an especially cold climate, I find my motivation to workout when it’s still dark outside in the morning or all gray and cloudy severely lacking. My normal morning workout routine has turned into waking up late and working out after work. And I’m regularly reaching out to my friends to find the motivation to stand up and start moving. I guess I just have to take it day by day.

Congrats on your ten lb loss! You’re doing great!

  • You are singing my song! I hate the winter months and cannot stand the gray cold days. I try to get out whenever the weather permits but honestly, sometimes I too feel the walls are all I know! It passes quickly though as we warm up quickly here.

I hope everything works out with the house! Fingers crossed for you.

  • I really hope you get the house! Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for you.

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate and that you’re doing a good job juggling it. But I agree with you, the winter time can really make things tough. I seem to feel a little more depressed in the winter. It’s hard to go out and about. I think going to the gym is a great way to get out of the house and get some alone time. After all, you deserve to have that time away from home, the kids, school, etc. and it will make you a better person in your home life in the end.

I have no doubt that you will lose the 100 lbs this year. You are very driven! :)

  • It’s not just you, promise. I totally have the seasonal blues. Winter is the hardest time of year for me because the weather totally affects my mood. I’m lucky to be in New Zealand right now where it is summer so I’m missing out on the worst part of it.

But 10 pounds in one month is AWESOME. Seriously. You are doing great and I’m sure the 100 lbs will come off if you want it to.

  • Hi Kellie! I found your blog today and have really enjoyed reading about your journey (adventure?) through weight loss. My goal for 2010 is also to lose 100 pounds. I’d be thrilled to lose 10 pounds a month – that’s my plan anyway! I’m also blogging about my weight loss… I’ve been struggling with weight for over a decade, have 3 kids, been married for almost 16 years, and have lived in MI, TX, OH, LA, OH (again), PA, IL, VA, IL (again). This year I WILL get control of my weight. I’ll continue to check in your blog – stop by and say “Hi!” if you get a chance!
