Stress and weight gain?

Okay so i’m grasping at straws here.

I stepped on the almighty scale this morning and found that i’m up another pound.  WHAT!?

I would be totally lying (or made of stone) if I said this didn’t upset me.  Last week, I tracked every morsel that went in my mouth (even bites of this or nibbles of that).

Yesterday, I stepped on the scale and it read, 305.  This morning, I step on the scale and it read 308.4.  So i’m up 3 pounds from yesterday and a total of four pounds from 3 weeks ago.

February has not been my month y’all.

The *only* thing I can chalk this up to is needing to drink more water?

I have been quite stressed because of the move.  The house stuff is up in the air… *again*.  In fact, we were supposed to close today… but then fate intervened and now we will close sometime within 10 days…. if ever.   So maybe the gain is due to stress?

I need to go to the gym and take this out on the treadmill / elliptical.  I’ll be back later on in the morning to write something more cheery.

But right now… I really need to workout my frustration in the gym…otherwise, i’ll raid the fridge.  And i’ll take my frustration out on food like it stole something.

  • Yes to the drinking more water — I slacked off and picked up some weight and then restarted pushing water and already some of the weight has come off. How’s your sodium intake?

Hitting the treadmill/elliptical is good therapy. I use my treadmill for a psychiatrist! :-)

The weight thing will sort itself out — there’s no POSSIBLE way that you gained that much real weight in so short a time.

  • Perfect – work out those frustrations. Double bonus: calorie burn and de-stress. Hang in there Kellie:)

  • Oh, girl I’m sorry about the gain. It could very well be water or stress or BOTH. I’ve gained this month and it SUCKS big time. I actually went down two pounds this morning so I think in my case it was stress & sodium intake. Have you been watching the sodium you’re consuming?

Just don’t raid the fridge. Don’t even think about. You’ll feel worse if you do. I like your idea of working it out at the gym. You’ll be fine. You are SO CLOSE to being under 300 I can feel it!!!! :)

  • I love taking my frustration out at the gym. This route is safer for other folks too and it burns the ol’ calories. ;)

    Hang in there.

  • I’m so glad that I’m reading this post now and I hope that I can offer some bit of advice.

    Breathe. :)

You know your body – or at least you’re getting to know your body. If you followed the healthy guidelines and you watched your points, you *did* lose weight. Maybe it’s not showing on the scale this week and that is okay. It could be because a) you actually gained more than 3 pounds last week but for some reason weighed a bit lighter b) you ate more sodium and are retaining fluids c) you’re weighing a bit heavier this week for some reason.

The scale doesn’t omit the hard work that you did.

As a last note, I had issues (even with WW) when most of my points came from carbs. I know…it should be just about calories and points, but for some reason when I ate heavy carb loads, I just didn’t do well – even if I stayed in my points range.

You can do this. I know you can.

    Hang in there.
