New shoes for my 30 minute walks

I love walking!

This week, I have been walking for 30 minutes each day. I knew that it was going to be fairly easy to keep up with and I was right! However, I noticed that my feet are getting a bit blistered. I have had these shoes for a couple of years now and have been aiming to get new ones for awhile.

I did some searching and found that New Balance had some really positive reviews. I have high arches and wider feet (what a combo!). So I think i’m going to try some out at famous footwear or JCPenny.

Do you guys have any suggestions for shoes? I really want a good walking shoe. I am not a runner or jogger (at least, not yet).

  • I go to a store where the salespeople are trained to fit shoes based on how you walk and if you pronate. They bring out only shoes that are right for your foot. It does cost a bit more, but I think it is well worth it for me because I do have feet issues. BTW – I am a walker but they have been putting me in running shoes for years based on the fit. Good shoes, and not worn out shoes, are a must! Treat yourself:)

I’m with you on this Karen. I think i’m going to cart myself over to a store that will help determine the right type of shoe for me. I tend to walk on the sides of my feet sometimes.

  • I know it sounds crazy, but I bought a pair of Croks a few years ago and now that’s all I wear.

  • New Balance makes a very good shoe! Even if they are running shoes they can be used for walking as well. Who knows, you may jog a bit in them after a while :-)

  • I’m totally in the same boat! I want to pick up my walking, now that the weather is nice, but I realized I totally need a new pair of shoes! I was thinking about getting some shape ups? Hope the ones you get work good for you! Maybe I should get those too!

  • I wear New Balance on days I lift weights. For my cardio days I like Ascis. I went to a local running shop and had them fit me with new insoles that conformed to my feet. They were a little more expensive but my feet are happy for it.
