Yesterday, I spent the whole day with one of my best friends. It was her birthday. She wanted to have a girl’s day out.
We started the day out by first running errands and then going to lunch. I did a good job selecting the healthiest thing for lunch (grilled chicken fajitas) and only had 1 mid-day margarita (a celebratory thing). We talked and laughed and it was super relaxing!
After lunch, we took a 2-hour hike. It was amazing! The trail we hiked was anything but flat terrain and continued to challenge us with hills, bridges and roughness. When we got to destination 1, my friend gave me the option of just walking back to the car. The other option of course was to go back through the trail and come out the other side. I opted for that! We walked about 4.0 miles total. It was exhilarating! The feeling was indescribable! The easy parts were… well… easy. The hard parts were definitely challenging! I found such a sense of pride and accomplishment when I finished the grueling parts. When we were done with the trail and back in the car, a feeling of happy peace washed over me. I was sore but felt great! AND… I am very sure that we worked off the fajitas and margaritas!
After that, we went shopping. We did this for about 3 hours. Lots of walking around, trying on clothes and girl-gabbing!
Later on in the evening we got all cute and went out to one of the local pubs for drinks and conversation. On a night out… normally I am out to have the most fun ever. So for me, it’s like go for broke or go home. And usually… I go for broke. It’s not always the best way to be because the next day I end up spending a good part of the day nursing a hangover but because we spent the whole day doing healthy things, I only had a drink and a half. I stayed very conscious of how much I consumed.
The next morning (Sunday), I woke up tired but sans headache or rotten tummy. I felt really sore from all of the exercise (but I was a happy sore).
All in all, I think i’m going to hike the trail again! Perhaps I will make it a part of my daily fitness routine!
What did you do this weekend? Was the weather good and did you enjoy it?

No pictures this time. I am so camera shy at this weight. However, my friend is a photographer so next time we go for a hike i’ll have her take pictures!!

It was kind of party central for me this weekend. Birthday party Friday and Saturday nights. Unfortunaty, I *did* indulge a little too much. Ah well. Wish there could have been a hike somewhere in there.
