Let’s talk Biggest Loser Season 9 Finale.
I love the Biggest Loser! Not because it shows a real look at weight loss (working out 8-10 hours a day isn’t exactly feasible for most of us regular folk)… but because it shows a real look at the human condition. We can do what we put our minds to. If a 526-pound person can WIN the Biggest Loser and weigh half of what he started at… then dang it… we can too.
I don’t knock anyone from having weight loss surgery but let’s be honest…. when you are 300+ pounds it almost seems as if surgery is one of the only alternatives. There are so many negative nellys out there telling people that the bigger they are… the harder it will be for the weight to come off and also to maintain a healthy weight. BUT… I feel like the Biggest Loser has changed that.
Anyway… back to the finale.
MICHAEL –WOW!

Ashley looks beautiful and Daris looks handsome! They all look so great!
I came into the season being a big fan of the gray team. However, Koli’s attitude started to bug toward the end. Is it just me or does it seem that he was less-than-gracious winning the at-home prize (not to mention super jumpy)? Why did Melissa seem so… abrasive when she got up on the scale?
I love this show! It is definitely an endless well of inspiration!
What are your thoughts on the finale?

I’m with you. I think that Koli was kind of a turd last night- he wouldn’t even say anything.
And sure, if America would’ve voted him in, he would’ve won $250K instead of $100. But DUDE, you got your life back, isn’t that worth something?
Maybe he was cranky because he felt like Sam and Steph were getting in the way of Sam and Steph – I mean, do you remember when he was telling Ashley not to trust Stephanie?
Eesh.

Right! That was completely my thinking too!
Yeah… the whole Sam and Steph thing seemed to be in his craw. Steph mentioned on Facebook that she has yet to get warm vibes from Koli.

I think his reply was downright rude. Imagine if you were in that spot. Would your response be “I just want to go home???” I was like WTF dude?!?! My response would have been excitement, elation and I think I would have taken the opportunity to thank Bob/Jillian and the other contestants but that is just me.

Yeah… I thought it was a little… “In your face America!” but then he just seemed so darn standoffish and jumpy. It was like he was on something. Maybe it was just nerves? Trying to give him the benefit of the doubt…

I feel like a lot of Koli’s abrasive attitude during the show came from production design and editing. He was very sympathetic in the beginning of the show and I have a hard time believing he changed that much. Anyhow, he got my vote.
As for Michael, his transformation was pretty incredible, but those jeans and the belt buckle needed to go.

Haha! I totally agree about the belt buckle and jeans. I guess they had stylists? But seriously… I could drown in those dimples… what a cutie!
You are probably right about the editing monkeys making Koli look like an @ss and so therefore making the audience unsympathetic.

I haven’t had a chance to watch the last few episodes, but I’m glad that Michael lost a bunch of weight. Did they end up bringing Shay back?

Shay came back and lost 52 more pounds! Then Jared from Subway came on the stage and offered her double the money if she train with Jared for a year and run a marathon with him! Methinks subway is looking for a female spokesperson. Shay is looking A-MOZING by the way!

It was great. So happy for the top 3. They all looked great and HAPPY! I love the show, also because we get to see that it can happen. It gets so discouraging on my own. And Shay, she looked great and how about her challenge to run a marathon with Jared from Subway? Woo HOO!! I am looking forward to Jillian’s new show and for the next season of Biggest Loser.

Oh yeah Bree! I am definitely going to be watching her too!

Oh I so don’t agree! I think Koli was reverting to his former shy, less confident self. I think it hit him hard not to be chosen over Daris. If you look at the percentages lost, Koli would have won it all! I suspect it is hard to look gracious and happy when that stuff happens to you on live TV. My heart went out to him. How disappointed he must have been.
And Melissa was just being herself! I so don’t like her. But she did look fabulous. As did so many of them.

Karen… I really appreciate that perspective! I can definitely see that and understand why he would. America just rejected him in a pretty big way. He probably felt a bit misunderstood.

It was a good season, I think this has been my favorite. Michael, is a handsome guy. I’m happy Daris found a girl friend, now maybe he can stop dwelling on that and grow up some. Koli, I felt a little bad for him that had to of really hurt not getting voted as a finalist, and he would have won it all. I agree though his comment I just want to go home.???? what ???

I personally like the element of America’s vote. I hope it was a wake up call to Koli on what an ass he was. He may be thinner and stronger, but he still doesn’t seem happy. Meh.

I agree with what people are saying. I think Koli is upset that the Sam and Steph thing was bigger than the cousins staying together (note none of the I did it for Sam or I did it for Koli stuff made any of the clips). But I do wonder if his “I just want to go home” comment was more like “I just want to move on with my life now. I’ve lost the weight, I need to start living.” Maybe wishful thinking on my part as he had such low self-esteem when he started and I really felt for him.
I was happy Michael won. Truly. The biggest contestant they have ever had and he is almost unrecognizable (and wow Maria may I say too!!!). I was kind of looking at his and Ashley’s relationship a bit… did anyone else hear him shout out that they were best friends??
I wish two people could win because… Ashley, never would I have guessed she’d have lost SO much by the finale. Amazing. And it was SOOOOOO close at the end there.

Koli and Sam just seemed like A-holes the whole time. All of that, don’t tell me what to think and dropping the F-bomb saying he was taking it all. I’m so glad he didn’t win.
