The importance of vitamins

Each time I was pregnant, I made sure to take one a day prenatal vitamins. I found that the vitamins gave me a little bit of energy and made my hair and nails grow strong. During the earlier parts of my pregnancy, I was unable to keep things down. I didn’t worry as much because I knew that at the very least, my body had absorbed the vitamins and that the baby and I were getting the nutrition we needed.

I just recently started taking vitamins again. I notice that I *feel better* when taking them. I can imagine my body getting the nutrients it needs and it makes me feel good. Taking vitamins everyday is just one more way I strive to take better care of myself. :)

Do you take vitamins? Which vitamins do you take?

  1. Before I was pregnant I just took a regular multivitamin along with fishoil (make sure the active DHA/EPA is high) and a vitamin D pill. Seeing as I live in the land of the grey and rain I don’t get much of that thing they call the sun. Now that I’m pregnant I still take all of that, switching out the multi for a prenatal. I don’t really think I feel better taking them, but I know they’re good for me :)

  2. I took a multivitamin and iron supplements for a while. My iron is in check, now, and i’m eating a far better diet, so I don’t need either anymore.
Now I take 100iu of vitamin D3 a day (though I may cut this back when the weather’s nicer and I’m getting daily sun exposure again. I also take a thyroid support supplement that has magnesium, potassium, B6, B2, B1, B12, iodine, copper, manganese, zinc, calcium and vit C. I get the vitamins and minerals my body needs without any extras I don’t.
Have only been on these for about 2 weeks, but am feeling like they are doing exactly what they’re meant to – supporting and supplementing my diet. And I’m feeling a little better overall, too. :)
