Planning a girls weekend

So this year, I am in charge of planning a family fun getaway. However, it is for *girls only*. My aunts, mom, cousins and sister in law are all going to go on this getaway trip. We haven’t decided where we wanted to go as of yet. I definitely want to visit another state besides Michigan (not that Michigan doesn’t have awesome stuff to do in the summer… but I live here. So… you know.). I am thinking somewhere down south. Perhaps Virginia or Florida (providing that I can find cheap hotels in panama city beach fl).

Planning this thing has given me an extra air of excitement. I want to make sure that wherever we book has a workout room and that I schedule plenty of on-foot site seeing so that I can keep my workout schedule in check. I figure squeezing out an hour a day for cardio shouldn’t be too much of a push. And then of course, i’ll have to have a map of restaurants around the area. I definitely want to have fun but I want to make sure I stay on the program as well.

I can’t wait until this summer! I’m going to be a weekend warrior! :)

Bar Brawl 2009

An interesting thing happened this past weekend.  My husband, the kids and I all traveled to attend my youngest brother’s graduation party.

The party was fun.  So fun in fact, that a rather large group of family members (aunts, uncles, cousins, my parents, and all three of my brothers) decided to go out drinking and singing karaoke.  We had a good time.  Now keep in mind that most of my uncles are veteran soldiers (we had Airforce, Marines and Navy at our table respectively).

Anyway, the night went along great.  We sang, we drank and most importantly, we had a blast!  Toward the end of the night,  Uncle Pat, hit on a pretty blond girl.  He was trying to get her to dance with him.  She apparently did not want to.  He let it go.  However, she and her friend alerted her friend’s husband and 3 other guys to jump Uncle Pat.

However, one of my other uncles (an ex-Navy man), saw that they were planning on jumping his brother-in-law and punched out one of the guys.  Soon, tables, drinks and fists were flying.  Thankfully, I was on the winning team.

They should have never stopped the karaoke. ;)
